A native Brazilian who has been working with Portuguese, English, and Spanish languages in the translation industry since 1997 and has three years of experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) in Brazil.

Member in good standing of the American Translators Association (ATA) and founding member of the Association of Translators and Interpreters in the San Diego Area (ATISDA). Additionally, she founded Computer Skills 4 Translators to provide training to language professionals who wish to improve their computer skills.

She has been certified as an English into Portuguese translator by the ATA and as a Spanish into English and English into Spanish by the UC San Diego Extension, where she has been working as an instructor since March 2010, teaching an on-line class called "Tools and Technology in Translation."

Her main field is Computers and Technology, working on website localization and translating manuals, help files, software/hardware specifications, and cell phone contents, among other related material. She has also specialized in business communications, providing transnational corporations with a Portuguese version of their magazines, newsletters, and press releases, as well as translating into English several articles that have been published in the Brazilian media about her clients.

Born in Portugal, Elisabete has always been passionate about languages from an early age. That’s why she decided to engage in translation studies in the first place. She graduated in Specialized Translation in 2002 and, since the beginning of her freelance career, she has been providing translation and proofreading services to both national and international companies and individuals.

Among her major areas of interest are technical, medical and pharmaceuticals, videogames and online games, advertising, and tourism, as well as website localization and information technology.

In addition to her regular assignments, she also undertakes pro-bono translation work. She is a member of Traducteurs Sans Frontières (Translators Without Borders), volunteering her time as a translator whenever necessary. She also collaborates as a volunteer to ADNG Diving and to Associação Portuguesa de Coelhos Anões (Portuguese Association of Dwarf Rabbits), the latter mainly because of her deep love for animals and her strong desire to donate her work to these causes.

She takes great pride in her work as a freelance translator and proofreader and strives for quality in every assignment she is trusted with. She is also planning to study Italian and to complete her studies in Russian.

In her spare time, she enjoys all fitness-related activities, as well as reading, traveling, going to the movies, and spending time with family and friends.

A native Ecuadorian with strong experiences in software engineering, Patricia's main field as a translator is Computer & Technology, working on website localization, technical documents on telecommunications, and software, DVD, and cell phone manuals.

As a part-time translator from 1998 to 2003 and a full-time translator since then, she has also worked with Business Administration, Accounting, Food & Beverages, Legal, Oil Drilling, Environment, and Health.

Patricia is a member in good standing of the American Translators Association (ATA) and board member of the Ecuadorian Translators and Interpreters Association (ATIEC), for which she serves in the capacity of Treasurer.

A native Brazilian, Cassia has an extensive experience in literary translations, having worked with several publishing houses and translating books on several subjects from English into Portuguese. Some titles include “New Media in Late 20th-Century Art,” “Exercise & Sports Cardiology,” “How to Live with Autism and Asperger Syndrome,” “Harvard Business Review on Organizational Learning,” "Managers as Mentors," “Black Hawk Down – A Story of Modern War,” and “Deadline.”

In her collaboration with translation agencies, she has taken part in the translation of the official FIFA-Yahoo website during the 2006 Soccer World Cup.

A native Italian, while at University she started working as an in-house translator in a large Italian company dedicated to the building industry, which gave her in-depth knowledge in this field. She translated manuals, technical sheets, legal documents, and foreign correspondence. Her work description also included editing and proofreading documents and manuals written in English, French or Italian by technicians who were not so fluent in these languages.

Having had this opportunity, in 2005 she decided to start working as a freelance translator, specializing in the legal and tourism fields.

After earning her Bachelor’s degree in French from Immaculata College, Gina then taught English classes at an école primaire in France. She subsequently served as a language center Administrator, and then as Executive Assistant for the U.S. subsidiary of a French corporation, before spending time in Brussels, Belgium.

Gina has been a member of the American Translators Association (ATA) and Delaware Valley Translators Association (DVTA) since 1997, and the New York Circle of Translators (NYCT) since 2004. In 2003, she earned a Certificate in French to English Translation from New York University.

Gina has been working as a Legal secretary in the Corporate practice group for a full-service law firm since 2002. In 2007, she earned a Certificate of Paralegal Studies online through Boston University. As such, her main interest in translation includes legal and general business documents. She also translates general certificates, diplomas, articles and press releases, and has translated basic financial, technical and medical documents. Gina prides herself on being reliable and dependable and respecting her professional commitments.

GLORIA RIVERA

A native Spanish speaker from Peru, Gloria has studied English since kindergarten and continues to refines her language skills. After graduating with an MD from Universidad San Martin de Porres, in Lima, she worked for the Peruvian Navy as a physician before moving to the United States, where she earned a Certificate of Translation and Interpretation (English/Spanish) from the UC San Diego Extension. Subsequently, Gloria worked at the UCSD Extension as an Instructor, teaching Medical Translation and Interpretation classes for the Certificate Program.

Gloria’s work as a freelance translator has given her experience in a variety of settings: from medical reports, articles, and texts to documents, certificates, contracts, and websites.

She is member of the American Translators Association (ATA) and the International Medical Interpreters Association (IMIA).

Born and raised in the Unites States, Mark developed an early interest in different languages and cultures. He obtained a Bachelor's degree in European Studies from Vanderbilt University, where he focused on Italian language and culture. He also worked in Milan, Italy, for two summers during his undergraduate studies, where he translated press releases, contracts, and news articles from Italian to English.

Mark began studying Arabic in 2002 at the Monterey Institute of International Studies. During his Master's studies (2003-2005), he received three separate certificates of summer language study in Arabic at the American University in Cairo. In 2007, Mark graduated with an M.A. in Near Eastern Studies from the University of Arizona, specializing in Arabic language and culture.

Mark is currently a PhD candidate in Near Eastern Studies at the University of Arizona, where he continues to use Arabic in the course of his research. He is member of the American Translators Association (ATA) and Middle East Medievalists.

Born in the United States, Lisa was raised in San Antonio and started learning Spanish in school at age 10. After college, she started studying French in preparation for a trip, sparking a lifelong fascination. Since 2007 she has divided her time between France and the US, and she looks forward to raising a bicultural, multilingual family in the future. She loves language and culture, and her work as a writer/translator is her dream job. With friends and clients on almost every continent, she thrives on international exchange.

Her Spanish translation work includes over 150 medical projects for several agencies and direct clients, such as hospitals and pharmaceutical companies. Her French translation work includes countless medical and marketing projects for clients such as GoodPlanet.org, ITL North America, and top agencies in France and the United States. She is also skilled in transcreation, adapting ad campaigns for the U.S. market.

She is a member of the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA), American Translators Association (ATA), and Austin Area Translators and Interpreters Association (AATIA). Her volunteer work includes texts on human rights issues in Africa and medical translation for Traducteurs Sans Frontières (Translators Without Borders).

She is also working steadily to improve her beginner level of Japanese, for traveling and strengthening her friendships in Japan.
